Project:Donate
Wikilivres is supported solely by the donation of time and money by its editors, and is not affiliated with, owned, or supported by the Wikimedia Foundation or any other organization. Donate to Wikilivres today. All funds donated go directly to paying for the hosting costs of this website.
There is no Wikilivres without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff – we are volunteers who transcribe and preserve free literary works. We will never allow ads and cannot rely on big donors with corporate agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in providing free information. If everyone who visited Wikilivres donated $5, we would meet our 2020 goal within 3 hours. |

Accounting - March - May 2017
I've worked up a brief spreadsheet for the expense report. There are not many items, basically hosting, dns, and domain name registration. There were donations from four members (including myself) during this time. Three members donated between $7.00 and $9.93 USD (they were asked to for the domain name registration fund). That totalled $24.52 USD. I have donated $39.57 USD to make up the difference, which was ~62% of the total expenses for the period, which were $64.09.
Some costs are monthly, and some are yearly or more. The domain biblio.wiki was registered for 4 years, to lock in the low current price on .wiki domains. Ongoing monthly costs should be between $10-15/month. I've switched over to a different DNS provider, partially to make it easier in case of a problem, but that will also save a few dollars per year. I've not included S3 storage/backup costs yet, as those are mixed in with some other domains, and I have to separate it out into a different S3 account.
All members are asked to donate what they can to help distribute the financial burden more evenly. Payments can now be made via paypal to [email protected] and all help is appreciated. I think it would be healthy if no one person paid more than half of the costs (which I am willing to do). This means that one additional donation of $7.52 and one more of $7.50 for the upcoming month of June, would be a nice gesture. Any amount is fine, of course, there is nothing magical about $7. Any regular visitors who have not yet contributed are encouraged to.
- I'd like to support this call for small contributions, kind regards -jkb- (talk) 08:54, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
Accounting - June 2017
For June, 2017, Vadim donated a second time ($7 this time) and I put in the remaining $2.99 needed for the rest of the VPS host. I'd like to suggest that anyone who regularly uses Biblio.wiki but has not had the opportunity to donate, this is a good time to do it. We are really only looking for $7 per active user of the system, maybe 1-2x per year, for each active editor. Thanks again to all who donated. --Sysadmin (talk) 10:55, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Accounting - July 2017
For July, 2017, @sysadmin:, the sole donation, donated the full hosting amount for the month ($9.99 USD). We are really only looking for $7 per active user of the system, maybe 1-2x per year, for each active editor. Thanks again to all who donated. Our goal for August is two new donators with a single donation each of $7 USD. --Sysadmin (talk) 04:54, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Accounting - August 2017
For August, 2017, @Balkanique: donated $15 USD, our fifth editor to donate in 2017, and @-jkb-: donated $7 USD, a second donation for 2017. Expenses were the current $9.99 USD for vps hosting. --Sysadmin (talk) 07:18, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
Accounting - September 2017
For September, 2017, a plumbing company donated $10 USD. Expenses were the current $9.99 USD for vps hosting. --Sysadmin (talk) 07:18, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
Accounting - October 2017
For October, 2017, AG, a reader of Biblio.wiki, donated $10 USD. Expenses were the current $9.99 USD for vps hosting. Current balance is $12.03 USD --Sysadmin (talk) 07:18, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Note that with AG's donation, editors/readers' donations have now exceeded @sysadmin:'s at $61.54 USD compared with $52.50 USD. This is a good indication of the value provided by Bibliowiki to its participants, rather than being a project funded by a single individual.
Accounting - November 2017
For November, 2017, Vadim donated for a third time in 2017, in the amount of $8 USD, total $22.59 for the year. Expenses were the current $9.99 USD for vps hosting. Current balance is $10.04 USD --Sysadmin (talk) 02:39, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
Accounting - December 2017
For December, 2017, a new donor K. Daniszewski donated $3 USD. Another new donor El Verduggo donated $10. Expenses was $9.99 for Hosting. Current balance is $13.05 USD
Donors and Donations for 2017
For 2017 we've received 14 donations from 9 individuals (three of these from sysadmin) to support this site in 2017. Total raised was $147.07 and spent was $134.02, with a remainder of $13.05. Sysadmin has donated $52.55, slightly more than a third, and for the past five months donations have been self-sustaining. This is due to new donors nearly every month, and two donors (besides Sysadmin) who have made multiple donations.
Accounting - January & February 2018
For January and February we had 1 donor (koavf) who provided $ 20 USD. Expenses were the standard Hosting costs, as well as a new 1-year subscription to DNS services from DNSmadeEasy. Their performance is much improved over the NameCheap DNS Pro service which prompted use of this other service.
Current balance in the Bibliowiki account is $ 3.08 USD --Sysadmin (talk) 02:56, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Accounting - March 2018
For March we had two donations: one from a 2017 donor and one from a new donor, totallying $17.50 USD. Expenses were the same $9.99 USD for the VPS hosting. The end of March balance was $10.59 USD.
